If your organization has issued Gifted gift cards and a recipient has returned a purchased item, here’s what you need to know about how the refund process works.
Refunds for Gifted Gift Cards
Gifted gift cards are non-refundable once the code has been revealed. Refunds are only possible if the card remains unused (unrevealed). Once a brand card is activated and the code is shown, the balance becomes tied to that retailer and cannot be reversed.

Refunds for Items Purchased Using Gifted Cards
If an item bought with a Gifted card is returned, the merchant’s refund policy applies — not Gifted’s.
Here's what your organization or the recipient should keep in mind:
- Each merchant has its own refund policy. Whether a refund is approved depends entirely on the brand/store.
- Recipients should contact the merchant directly to process returns and discuss refund options.
- The refund method will vary depending on the store — it might be refunded back to the gift card, issued as store credit, or processed using another method.
Gifted does not handle refunds once the gift card has been redeemed.
